Mosor and Biokovo are mountains that will thrill you with its wild karst landscape, ridge paths and beautiful views, abandoned shepherds’ cottages, and beautiful mountain lodge located between silver fir tree.

Trip Details

We’ll walk through two types of climates, continental in the northern ridge side and Mediterranean climate on the souther coastal side. We will enjoy various plant species of both worlds that meet and live next to each other. We will have a chance to meet mouflons, wild goats as well as various bird species, wild boars, wolves, etc.

The views you’ll have from ridge are absolutely spectacular! On the clear day one can see a number of Dalmatian islands as well as large part of Dalmatian coast to the south, and to the north numerous Croatian and Bosnian mountains.

During the first three days we will enjoy Mountain of Mosor and Cetina river canyon, spending our days between 500 and 1300 meter above sea level. In the second part of our trip, we will be hiking through protected reserve of Biokovo and enjoy its scenic beauty and exceptional biodiversity. We will climb Croatia’s 2nd highest peak Sveti Jure which rises from the Adriatic Coast to height of 1762m.

The below itinerary represents our full 6 day program, however our customer can also book only part of the trip having it 2-6 days long options.

Day 1We will escape town of Split

We will escape town of Split early and start our ascent from village Žrnovnica heading up to Lugarnica, small mountain hut with fantastic view on Split. Our first Mosor peak is called Ljubljan on 1262 meter of altitude. From Ljubljan we continue on the ridge of mountain to Vickov stup (1325 m) and then Mosor’s highest peak Veli Kabal (1339 m). After a small brake and refreshment we will start descending to mountain hut Umberto Girometa for a well deserved rest and overnight.

Day 2Our second hiking day is taking us east

Our second hiking day is taking us east, through untouched nature and towards the peak of Kozik. The climb is a bit steep but really beautiful with rewarding view from the top. Next on our way is walk on the ridge to the Trpošnik mountain hut where is a small water spring. We will descend to Gata village on a old carriage way. We will spend the night in the sea town of Omiš where you can refresh in the sea!

Day 3We will explore the valley and Canyon of Cetina River

We will explore the valley and Canyon of Cetina River with several waterfalls, green forest and small local villages. As we climb up in a cool forest shade, the views on the canyon will become more and more beautiful.

For those wanting do break kayaking routine or have a rest before demading Biokovo hike, we offer optional activities for the third day: rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, windsurfing, cannoning, rafting or rest day on the beach.

Day 4And finally, Biokovo!

And finally, Biokovo! From an old village of Bartulovići we will hike up through the pine forest part and karst landscapes. After passing by Pozjata cave we will reach the peak of Ščirovac from where will have again amazing view on coast and islands underneath us. The path is taking us along the narrow ridge path reachin Sveti Ilija peak (1642 m). Afterward, we descend to Slobodan Ravlić mountain hut where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 5Today we will hike up to Sveti Jure

Today we will hike up to Sveti Jure (1762 m), second highest peak of Croatia. We start from our mountain hut along a built path almost till the peak which get quite steep toward the end. From the peak, you will experience spectacular view: on impressive Biokovo mountain range, islands on the sea and Bosnia’s mountains in hinterland. After lunch break, we will descend with a nice path to the Vošac mountain hut being located on the ridge of Biokovo with 1000 meter drop giving amazing view on the coastline underneath. Here, we will spend our last night.

Day 6Last day will be descending from Vošac to the coastline in Makarska

Last day will be descending from Vošac to the coastline in Makarska. After 1400 meter descent, we will have well deserved sea refreshment on Makarska riviera. At evening, we will have a transport back to Split and farewell dinner where we will share memories from this incredible adventure.
