Day 2Island Brač cycling tour
The tour starts in Split, taking early morning ferry to the town of Supetar on the island Brač. After short visit to the center and optional visit to parish church of Mary Annunciation (18th century) and the surrounding buildings like Leroj (bell-tower with watch) you will start your biking adventure following the coastline eastwards. Along the way, you will be enjoying the typical landscape of olive tree farms and vineyards one one and sea on the other side. Endless “suhozid” walls made by peasants through the centuries will follow you on the way with frequent “bunje” shelters, stony field- houses of round ground-plan with a doom as roof.
Your first uphill will take you to the oldest island settlement Škrip, and then continue to the town of Nerežišća with its famous pine tree on the roof of St. Peter’s church.
The second uphill is taking you to the highest point of all Croatia’s islands: 778 meter high Vidova gora where you will be rewarded with incredible view on the town of Bol, the Zlatni rat beach and island of Hvar.
For the end of the cycling day, the long long downhill will take you to the town od Bol and the most famous Croatia’s beach Zlatni Rat (Golden cape) for refreshing swim!
Day 3Island Hvar cycling tour
The day will start with a morning private boat transfer to island of Hvar. Exploration of island Hvar will start at the same place where its ancient history starts: in Stari Grad plain. Greek colonized this area in the 4th century B.C due to its high agricultural value, focusing mainly on grapes and olives. The landscape features ancient stone walls and trims, or small stone shelters that remained intact over 24 centuries.
The route goes through Vrboska, known as “the Venice of Croatia” for its long narrow channel and bridges over it; and the town of Jelsa. The route then goes south passing the picturesque villages of Vrbanj, Svirće and Vrisnik where the life did not change significantly since centuries ago.
The route then goes to Stari Grad, island’s oldest town with its 16th century Hektorovićev Tvrdalj which is the perfect place for your lunch break.
Ten kilometer long uphill that comes after will eventually reward you with amazing view on the open sea, Pakleni otoci (“Hell islands”) and island of Vis in the distance. On your pleasant downhill to town of Hvar, you can stop in the village of Brusje, known for production of lavender and rosemary eteric oils.
Town of Hvar offers so much to see: 16th century fortress on a hill above the old town with a beautiful panorama view of the town and Pakleni Islands the city walls, built in the Middle Ages. In the downtown you will enjoy cathedral of St. Stephan, 13th century Arsenal, 17th century theatre and much much more!
You will load your bikes to the catamaran line and get back to your base in Split
