National Park kayaking | 7 Days

Day 1Sali-Levrnaka (Kornati islands)

The first day of our adventure we will have the transfer from the coastal town of Zadar to our starting point, the town of Sali on Dugi otok (Long Island) by 2-hour boat transfer. Once arrived in Sali, you will meet your guides, have a detailed route introduction and take a short training course on the gear, kayaking technique, microclimate opportunities and safety on the sea. After this, you are ready to start this great adventure! We are starting our tour from Sali on Dugi Island and heading east to Kornati National park, archipelago of 152 islands, being most dense group of islands on the whole Mediterranean. The legend says that God created Kornati islands on the last day of creating world form the tears and stars. The archipelago is unpopulated, but we will find from time to time some fishermen’s huts and robinson shelters. We will be passing small islands Katina, Aba, Šilo, Tovrnjak, Obručan and arrive to Levrnaka where we will put up our tents and camp for the night. There is hiking route available on the island for the ones with still enough energy.

Day 2Levrnaka – Mala Lavsa (Kornati)

After getting up and having a breakfast in the charming camping area you will be introduced with today’s day plan (this will be our standard morning practice). After leaving Levrnaka we will spend the day paddling through the south side of Kornat Island on our way to Island Piškera and see amazing island Mana with high cliffs and great view. On the island of Mana we will do a short hiking trail visiting the small fortress made of rocks where the movie “The Poachers” with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis was filmed in 1957. From Mana our way is going towards Piškera. We will camp on Island Mala Lavsa, in picturesque Lavsa bay.

Day 3Mala Lavsa – Žirije

Today we will be having a bit harder kayaking day. Passing numerous islands on our way we’ll say good bye to Kornati National park, and cross a channel to our new host: Šibenik archipelago. The crossing will give your feeling of the true open ocean wilderness. First of the island on our way is going to be the green island of Žirije. The island area is rich with fishes so we will challenge our luck having a catch for dinner. We will do an easy hiking trail to the peak Kapic with the remainings of 6th century fortress (131m). On our way we will pass through a small piece of agricultural land in the middle of the island with traditional growing of grapes, olives, plums, figs and sour cherries. In a small village on the island we will have our deserved rest in local apartment (3*) after this great day.

Day 4Žirije – Zlarin

Today schedule is very interesting and relaxing. After breakfast we will be leaving Žirije and cross channel to visit Zmajan and Island Kaprije, famous for capers growing. On Zmajan we will have a break on perfect small beach and get some energy to continue our trip. Second part of the day we’ll spend paddling to uninhibited island Tijat and beach Tijaščica, islands Prvić and island Zlarin, famous for coral diving. The interesting fact is that island authorities do not allow vehicles on the island making it a perfect quiet place for rest. We will have a hike to the Klepac (169m) from where we will be able to see Velebit hill on the north and vulcanic islet of Jabuka (Apple) far on the open sea. We will spend a night in local apartment (3*).

Day 5Zlarin - Šibenik – Zaton

While paddling towards Šibenik today, we will enter the Krka River. We will bass by Saint Nicholas fortress protecting the river mouth. The fortress was built in sixteenth century by Venetians and is situated on a small island, but connected with the mainland. With 32 cannons, it used to be very important for the protection of the city from the sea-bound enemies. After passing through the narrow channel we are entering the district capital, town of Šibenik. It is medieval Croatian city, one of the rare cities on the coast which were built (in 11th century) by Croatian kings, not by Romans. We will take a walk through the town and visit all its historical sites. The rest of the day we will paddle through the canyon forward to the small Zaton village, where we have dinner and local apartment overnight (3*).

Day 6Zaton - Skradin

Today we will paddle few miles through Krka River to the small town of Skradin, a place visited by many famous people like Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, and Tom Cruise etc. You will be able to see its beauty itself like his famous guests. From Skradin we will have a boat transfer to Krka national park and have a beautiful time in park watching great waterfalls and hiking among many lakes and on bridges. Krka National Pak has great archaeological sites and monuments of sacral heritage interesting ethno village that has preserved the old way of living and rich and diverse living world with numerous endemic and rare species. Today we will have a special farewell dinner where we will share the stories from this exciting adventure and conclude it in strong feelings of happiness and friendship. Day 7

In morning we will have breakfast and later pack for leaving. We can offer you optional biking tour to Sibenik. After saying good bye to each other we will transfer you to your preferred location (hotel, train/bus station or airport).
